‘Pallet Action’ shows the artist pulling a pallet through the deep snow for no obvious purpose. It looks like more of a struggle than a determined, constructive act. The cumbersome object is dragged for kilometres through the unyielding snow and the cloggy earth.
It is interesting to note that Tim Volckaert chooses the winter rather than the summer.
This man is endeavouring to build with the resources that come to hand. He is endeavouring to manipulate the landscape. This artist is a trudging human being trying to extricate himself, to uproot himself. The landscape ministers to the solitude expressed by the act. He who uproots himself from his social environment stands alone. Arriving on top of a hill, the artist makes a monument of himself by taking up his position on a pallet. Unlike Jan Fabre’s ‘The Man who Measures the Clouds’, Volckaert presents himself as a small person compared to the artist who likes to display divine ambitions.
This action is the maker’s first manifestation of himself as an artist.

Dans l’« Action Palette », nous voyons l'artiste se promener, apparemment sans but, avec une palette dans la neige profonde. Cela ressemble plus à une lutte qu'à un acte constructif délibéré. L'objet encombrant est traîné des kilomètres sur une neige qui ralentit la marche et une terre aspirante.
Cette action nous montre clairement que Tim Volckaert préfère l’hiver à l’été.
Cet homme essaie de construire avec les ressources qu'il trouve. De réaliser une opération d'aménagement paysager. Cet artiste est un « traîneur » qui tente de se déraciner. Le paysage est entièrement au service de la solitude qu’exprime l’acte. Quand on est déraciné de son environnement social, on est seul. Arrivé au sommet d'une colline, l'artiste se place sur la palette afin de devenir lui-même un monument. Contrairement à L'homme qui mesure les nuages de Jan Fabre, Tim Volckaert se révèle une petite personne par rapport à l'artiste qui aime se fixer des ambitions divines.
Dans cette action, le créateur se manifeste pour la première fois en tant qu'artiste.
